Prêt-à-Pot manufactures three different types of clay, all using locally sourced materials. Their staff are trained in-house and each piece will pass through at least 6 hands before being ready for the kiln. Each person adds their own personal hand-print to the product.
The heat of the kiln is the key in the creation of each piece and dictates the nuances of each color; true alchemy through fire. From salt pots to planters that are one meter high, the results from the kiln and the artisans’ collective effort bring joy on a daily basis, and are an alternate to mass produced ceramic design.
Certain finishes are reactive which means that the glazes are designed in a way that no two pots are identical. While they will all have the same color tone they are designed with a more natural feeling in mind and that results in finishes that vary from pot to pot. Certain finishes are also designed to age which means they get better over time.
Although Prêt-à-Pot items are made using traditional craft techniques every item is practical for modern living. The planters are high fired and are frost proof. Tableware is fired to a stoneware temperature and is dishwasher safe. What more can you ask for?
It gives us such joy to bring you lovingly made, hand-crafted items that stand out from soulless, mass produced products. We love that no two Prêt-à-Pot items are the same and that the variations in glaze and finish will bring interest to your tabletop and your décor. We‘ve curated this selection of earthy, inspired-by-nature tones and textures to bring you classic tableware pieces that will stand the test of time.
