Crowned the 2015 100% Design South Africa Designer of the Year, furniture designer David Krynauw’s solid wood furniture utilises wood sourced from his family farm. Krynauw grew up a maker and has always had his hands busy constructing things; "I was raised in a home where we were encouraged to make things as opposed to buying things” he explains. Describing wood as “the most versatile medium on earth”, Krynauw’s designs’ star quality lies in their simplicity.

With a business ethos of “ontwerp, bou, boer” (design, build, farm), David and his team creates world-renowned furniture pieces and architectural structures. David has developed a design language he calls, “The Joburg Method”, joining parts together in an effective and efficient way.
