Bakuba Throw Charcoal

    • The Bakuba throw is inspired by the rhythmic design of the Kuba Cloth, which has been woven for centuries in Central Africa. Traditionally it was woven from fronds of the raffia palm tree and decorated with natural dyes and embroidery. The Kuba Cloth is one of the most visually exciting fabrics in the world and has influenced many artists including Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso. Matisse was so fascinated by this cloth that he kept a large collection and displayed it on his studio walls.

Wow!

I stumbled upon this store after moving to Rye from the Midwest and... wow! their inventory is so beautiful and unique. The customer service was amazing (very informative about their products without pressure) and the backstories to the items are inspiring. their focus on sustainability and sourcing from collectives in South Africa that give back to their local communities definitely makes me want to shop there again. Thank you!
